These errors don't provide enough information as to the nature of the 
problem. They're generic errors from sendmail. Essentially either the 
milter has crashed or the connection has timed out on the milter's side 
and has subsequently closed the socket.

For the former, if you have enable core dumps for setuid programs, then 
the core file should be in work-dir, typically /var/tmp. Without a core 
file, then more detailed logging would be required in order to figure 
roughly where it was and what it was doing.

For the latter you would require more logging and have to compare 
timestamps between messages from the milter and sendmail in order to see 
if it is a timeout program.
