That's not valid.

The syntax for IP addresses in MAIL/RCPT commands is:

MAIL FROM: <user@[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]>

The syntax you described is invalid and *should not* be accepted, as  
that syntax describes a hostname, not an IP address. For example, if  
I have "FROM <user@>" there is no TLD "45".
